ADULT COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

Our Level 1 courses are available to first-time or entry-level students aspiring to kickstart a career in welding and manufacturing, gain further education, and/or start a business.

INTRO TO GAS METAL ARC (GMAW/MIG) WELDING 

Objective:MIG welding, or Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), utilizes a consumable electrode and shielding gas to produce robust welds. Widely applied in Automotive, Construction, Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Aerospace, General Fabrication, Repair/Maintenance, Agriculture, Pipelines, and DIY, MIG welding is valued for its ease, versatility, and efficacy on various metal thicknesses.

In this foundational Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) course, participants will delve into welding theory alongside practical, hands-on training in readiness for the American Welding Society (AWS) 2F Certification Test. The program also includes the development of job readiness skills, equipping students for entry into the workforce, progression to Level 2 Courses, further educational pursuits, or entrepreneurial endeavors.

Eligibility: All Women (18+ Ages)

FORKLIFT ESSENTIALS (FLE)

Objective: This certification is built upon OSHA standards (OSHA CFR 1910.178) and focuses on powered electric forklift safety and operation. The two-day course offers comprehensive classroom instruction covering key aspects such as safety, operator training, semi-trailer loading and unloading, pallet placement on/off rack systems, right-angle stacking, and forklift charging. The course is customizable to meet specific employer requirements.The different trucks that can be utilized in this course are:

  1. Sit-Down Electric Motor (Class 1)
  2. Stand-Up Electric Motor Counterbalance (Class 2)
  3. Stand-Up Electric Motor Reach (Class 2)
  4. Stand-Up Electric Motor Order-Picker (Class 2)
  5. Electric Motor Pallet Jack (Class 3)
  6. Tugger (Class 2)

Eligibility: All Adults (18+ Ages)

Location: Vincennes University Logistics Training & Education Center (VULTEC)

Tuition: $2,500 per student

  • Powered Industrial Truck Operator (PITO) license valid for three years
  • $200 Retesting & Renewal Fee after 2 Years
  • Job Placement for eligible students

  • Suspended or Expired driver’s license
  • Learner’s permit

TEAM LEAD ESSENTIALS (TLE)

Objective: This two-day (14-hour) course providing students with essential knowledge and skills for effective team leadership. The flexible format accommodates either a two-day intensive or a four-day evening option. Instruction includes dynamic methods like PowerPoint presentations, lectures, activities, discussions, self-reflection, and assessments. Graduates will be prepared to lead successful teams in diverse industrial and professional environments.

WAREHOUSE ESSENTIALS (WAE)

Objective: This 5-day (40-hour) course covering warehouse basics and offering Powered Industrial Truck Operator (PITO) license training. It includes Team Lead Essentials (TLE) instruction through PowerPoint slides, lectures, warehouse activities, discussions, and tests. Students will gain fundamental knowledge, skills, and functions related to warehouse operations.

  • The basic functions of the warehouse (Receiving, Put-Away, Picking, Shipping, etc.)
  • Use of scanner tablets
  • Working within a Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Knowledge of other major warehouse software packages
  • Value Added Product Service (VAPS)
  • Future technologies being introduced into warehouses
  • Safety and operation on four different industrial power forklifts
